CONGRATULATIONS, it seems, are in order to Stewart Gray, the new goalkeeper for Highland League bottom club Fort William.
Gray signed for them a few days ago on loan from fellow Highland League side Huntly. (I would describe them as rivals, but that would imply some kind of competition. Fort William are 19 points behind Huntly, having managed one point from 10 games.)
The keeper was pitched straight in against Deveronvale yesterday. Ahead of the game, Fort William manager Calum MacLean sounded quite excited about his new signing in the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
“He has all the skills, but I think he will need them this weekend when we travel to Deveronvale,” MacLean said.
“They beat us 11-0 in the fixture last season, but there is no way that will happen this time.”
No, indeed. This time, it was only 10-0. So, well done, Stewart. Whatever you did, it made a difference.
