ANY of you left sleepless by Blackburn’s drop to 10th in the Premier League will be glad to know that they have now been restored to their rightful position of ninth after today’s 4-1 victory over Bolton.
Mark Hughes had taken the squad away to Florida for a few days before the game – to help them recharge their batteries ahead of the battle to ensure ninth spot.
As is standard now when Blackburn and Bolton meet, Rovers were awarded two penalties – it happened in both league fixtures between the sides last season – and Benni McCarthy scored them both.
Hughes seemed to acknowledge in the post-match press conference that their prospects of finishing, say, sixth may be slim.
“It is going to take more points to get a European place than it has ever done but we’ll keep going,” Hughes said, at least confirming that Blackburn will fulfil all of their remaining Premier League fixtures.
“We’ve got winnable games and if we can put pressure on by taking maximum points, hopefully we’ll get where we want to go.”
